Title: Failure of conversion of mixcloud M4A files
Post by: chrisjj on February 20, 2013, 10:06:34 am
M4As from www.mixcloud.com play fine, but Convert Format (e.g. to WAV or MP3) fails every time:

Though Conversion Progress says complete, Details click does nothing, the file list says Failed and the output file has zero length. I find no other info on the failure.

Any suggestions?

BTW Devs, you might like to know that reattempting conversion caused the false error "Cannot add files to a running conversion" : http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/2739/betachrisfullscreenbetah.png (http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/2739/betachrisfullscreenbetah.png) . Workaround: first close the Conversion Progress dialog.

Do they work if you rename the source files from .M4A to .MP4?

Thanks but No.

But I have just found the cause is not the source but the destination - a network drive set read-only. Sorry for the misleading alarm.

Devs, please report the filing system error description to the user!

Thanks again G.

Yeah, that'd do it.  ;D

I agree, the error reporting in the Conversion (and Handheld sync) systems is weak, at best.
