Title: Slideshow captions
Post by: rossp on March 05, 2013, 07:00:30 am
Hi all, I am starting to tag my photo's as I want to slideshow them and see the caption. I am a bit unsure which tag I need to  update though as there seem to be many that could hold the information.

keywords
comment
caption

I does not seem to show the information whichever one I update. How are you all doing image tagging?

Also I can't get F4 (pane tagging) to work. It is greyed out.

Probably you want to use Caption.

Then, in Tools > Options > Images > Caption, enter the expression:

   if(isempty([Caption]),[Name],[Caption])

This will give you the caption, but show the name of the photo where there is no caption.

What type of view are you in for pane tagging?  Can you provide more details?

Hi Mr C, I am just in normal view using the standard images view. On my laptop I can select pane tagging but on my main server I can't.
Is there a global switch to turn it off?

This is a client then, connect to the MC server on your desktop?

If so, you need authentication enabled to sync changes back to the server.

No the main server is connected directly to the nas shares for music / images and video.

My only idea is that you're in read-only mode because another system has the library open.  Can you tag otherwise (not using pane tagging) on that system that cannot pane tag?

Mr C, you were right as usual. Read-only due to another system having the library open.
If only I could be so bright....

Thanks
