Title: Computer freezes regularly when using MC
Post by: ghughes on March 07, 2013, 11:10:41 pm
My MC seems to be very unstable with MC.  With all of the rest of my many programs I have no problem except with MC.  I love the program, but it is almost unusable

Hi Graeme,  a bit more detail would help on and seeing if there is any pattern but start with some overall background:
- Your System: CPU, GPU, Mem,
- Connection Types : HDMI, SPDIF, Analog etc
- Media: Audio / Video (file types)

When you say "freeze" do you mean the MC becomes unresponsive and you have to reboot the whole PC?
Does it happen on playing one particular type of media?
Is there any other pattern you notice?

Rest assured that MC (for the vast majority of us) is very stable so I'm sure we can help work out what the issue is in your case.

Thanks
Nathan

Try the link in my signature called "Weird Problems".

Updating drivers is a good first step.

Virus checkers are often a problem.

My answers in capitals
Hi Graeme,  a bit more detail would help on and seeing if there is any pattern but start with some overall background:
- Your System: CPU, GPU, Mem, PLEASE SEE ATTACHED SCAN OF SYSTEM
- Connection Types : HDMI, SPDIF, Analog etc
- Media: Audio / Video (file types) ALL TYPES SUPPORTED

When you say "freeze" do you mean the MC becomes unresponsive and you have to reboot the whole PC?  I HAVE TO CONTROL ALT DELETE TO SHUT DOWN PROGRAM EVERY TIME.  MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF I REBOOT
Does it happen on playing one particular type of media? I ONLY USE AUDIO WAV FILES FOR BOTH RIPPING AND PLAYING
Is there any other pattern you notice?  IT HAPPENS WITH BOTH MC 17 AND 18

Rest assured that MC (for the vast majority of us) is very stable so I'm sure we can help work out what the issue is in your case.  THANK YOU THAT GIVES ME HOPE

Thanks
