Title: Audio System Recommendations For My Computer And TV
Post by: KingSparta on March 14, 2013, 01:32:48 pm
I had a nice sound system for my Computer but it has now given up on me so I am looking for something new.

Let me tell you my Idea:

I would like a sound system that I can mount on the walls around my TV\Computer room something with allot of power so I can blast out some music maybe (500 watts).

I would like to hook up my wife's computer, My computer, and my TV to it so it can be shared.

I would hope there is something like that.

it would be best if all of them could use the sound system at the same time.

is there any recommendations for something like this...

is there a place I can start looking for something like this?

By the way I had an operation today for a hernia so I will be out from work for a few weeks, so going out to the store to look right now is not going to happen.

I am going to try something new I Ordered some devices called: Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA)

MoCA was established in 2004 to promote the whole home distribution of high definition content over the existing coaxial cabling. MoCA Ethernet bridges can be used to supply network and multimedia connectivity to a TV, computer, game console, laptop, etc. while devices with integrated MoCA support can interface directly without the use of an adapter. Coaxial cable is resistant to interference and outlets are generally found in rooms intended for TV viewing.

The current MoCA specification can support multiple streams of HD video, deliver up to 800 Mbit/s net throughputs and offer consistent throughput via parameterized quality of service (PQoS).[1]
Can take advantage of existing home coax wiring if available
As a wired standard, does not compete with wireless networks for spectrum use
Can provide uplink network connectivity to wireless access points
PQoS for managed bandwidth

I already ordered two of them to see if this will help me with my Video distribution thru the home.

Our DishNetwork Hopper (master DVR) units provide MoCA, sending video and Ethernet over coax to the Joey (satellite) units.  It is very handy and has performed pretty well so far.

I'm still looking for an audio solution for my computer\TV system, by the way.

What do you mean exactly by this:

"I would like to hook up my wife's computer, My computer, and my TV to it so it can be shared."

For example, I have a large LCD TV in next room connected to my master office system in MC server via HDMI; my wife's computer connects to MC library server.

When my kids watcha show in my office on the master server, I can still watch a movie or listen to HiFi in the living room on the big system.

btw - you don't' need 500watts. Get some Klipsch or other high efficiency speakers and plug in a 5-20watt amp/integrated amp.

get some rest
