I just stopped playback, and afterwards MC18 was using "<0.01 % CPU".

Ok so I started the program and after a couple of minutes the cpu went down to about zero.
So It has sommething to do with the caching of the Thumbnails?

If it is a relatively new MC installation, it is possible that it's auto-creating the database, based on the Import options you've set (inlcuding thumbnail creation). This can increase CPU usage, but only temporarily. If it's an old installation but you've added new files then again, it's normal for the database to re-index itself.
