Post by: maid on March 17, 2013, 02:18:24 am
Hi, can someone explain in simple terms how to use zone switch.

I have zone one for movies and zone 2 for audio.

You can use the type of file to delineate the two.  Do you have a more specific question?

I am setting up three zones.

One to play Movies using bit stream

Two to play Music using 6 channels

Three to play Music using bit stream as an alternate source

How do I tell the zone switch which is which.

I understand the first two as it is done by using the file extention be it MOV for the movies and Flac for Music.

Is this possible to achieve?

When you setup the zoneswitch, you can use a Search Wizard to help creating the argument that selects the media files for this zone. If the search argument is valid for more than one zone (you want to play music in two zones) things gets a little more complicated.
Have a look in the Search Wizard to see if you can use other values to combine with 'file type' to differentiate the two music zones.
Do some experimenting, it is rather simple to get working. You can see in the Playing Now Overview what is playing in which zone.
