Title: Auto-Import From Network working yet?
Post by: o0JoeCool0o on March 28, 2013, 12:25:41 pm
I am a current user of JRiver considering to upgrade to the latest version. However something that really annoys me is every time I add something to my SAN the "Auto-Import" feature never finds it on its own. I always have to manually go to tools auto import and "Run Auto Import"

This Auto Import should run on its own every couple hours or something so I don't have to manually do this every time I want to watch something new. Is this fixed now in version 18?

It does run a full check once every two hours now.

However, you should know that this doesn't work right in your case because your NAS is broken, not because MC can't monitor network locations.

I monitor a wide swath of network locations and they all work fine.

Broken NAS boxes that don't properly implement filesystem events don't work right, but that's due to laziness and incompetence on the part of the NAS vendor (plenty of them follow spec and work right), not due to anything weird in MC.

Welcome.

It's best to use a watchable file system.

But if a folder fails when we request a watch, we will manually scan it every two hours.

This was added in v16:
16.0.36 (2/18/2011)
Changed: If auto-import is unable to watch a folder for changes (happens with some network drives, etc.) then the program will scan for changes manually every 2 hours.

Thanks! Very silly that FREENAS 8 doesnt support this with ZRaid. But good to know it will now scan every 2 hours! I will definitely purchase the upgrade.
