Title: Can't play CD's

Digital playback is not working.  When I try to play a CD on either of my Plextor's (UltraPlex 40max and Plexwriter 8/20), it just plays the first 2 seconds of the track, then skips to the next track.  I don't think it's a SCSI problem because it does the same thing on my friend's Compaq with an IDE reader.  Analog playback works, but doesn't sound nearly as good and digital used to work.

try to install the latest 4.7 aspi driver from adaptecs website. If you've good luck, your system works.
(I had the same problems and after reinstalling the latest driver, it worked).

I just tried the 4.70 ASPI layer with the same results.

Just to be shure... have you set Digital playback in Windows CD hardware setting?
I've a Traxdata 4x4x32 that works fine.

Yes, enable digital playback is checked in the CD-Rom properties of Device Manager.  CD's play fine with Windows Media Player.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have this problem?  Maybe I should try a fresh install.  I've installed many betas.

I just installed a fresh copy of build 239 and it will still not play cd's correctly using digital playback.  It plays the first 2 seconds then skips to the next track.  CD ripping works fine.  Like I said before, CD's play fine with Windows Media Player.

I had the same one. Like I posted before to install the latest driver (udo_1). I forgot to mention, before I reinstalled the lates SCSI, i downgraded to version 4.5. I was realy surprised to see it working. So I went back to 4.7 and it still works. Maybe you give it a try.
