Try disabling any security software.
You can use 7-zip to extract the build manually if necessary, then run Install.exe from the extracted package.

My music server does not have any security software and is only used to play music(win 8). Can you expound on using 7 zip or any other method.

Remember to download MC from this site and not an 'improved' version from elsewhere.
If your music server has Windows 7 as OS, you should be able to open the .zip file directly in FileManager.

I'm using windows 8,the MC was downloaded from this site and up to now everything worked perfectly.
Any help as how I could make the update work is appreciated,I'm a novice and need step by step instructions.

Try to download the file from the top thread and save the file. Then navigate to your Downloads folder and run the downloaded file. Still the same error ? It indicates that the download fails for some reason. Maybe something to do with your internet connection or antivirus as Matt suggests.
