Currently the limit is 8, and when doing video tagging and organisation, this isn't adequate for convenience. Was the choice of 8 arbitary, or was it due to perceived limits on vertical screen space? Since the average user will probably have a higher resolution screen than in the MC12 days (when I joined this club and the maximum was already 8 ), I think that would be less of a concern now if it had been originally. Can we get an increase to, say, 16 items?
My life would not stop if this were not addressed for a few weeks, but it would be rather nice to have this eventually. :)

Seems like there's no reason for a limit on this really, other than what would actually fit on your display.
But thank you for posting it, as I didn't realise you could increase this from the default of 1, and that's going to make things a lot less tedious now.

I'll try but will put 'INFINITY!!!!' instead of 16. Or maybe I'll go with 20.
Thanks!

Ha ! Instead of " +1 ", I have to say " All Hail MrC ! ". :o

And... since it is related... I will sneak in a request for a " Remove From Library " command to be added to the Library commands.
Of course, you are about to post " It's already there - Delete "
BUT, when you are looking at a playlist, or smartlist, such as "Recently Imported" or "Playing Now", then Delete actually is "Remove from List", which leaves no way to remove the item from the library.
So, if your "Recently Imported" smartlist shows a file that got imported by mistake, you first have to do a locate, go to another screen, then delete/remove, go back, etc.
Thanks!

Nice, wish I knew this 5 years ago.

Well if u speak about this menu 8 is ok for me no need to hack ^^ but i see the command "localize to disc from media center not appear in this menu and i use it often it's a bug? i noticed this since a long time.
By the way the possibility to increase for 20 in the options would be good if it's not dangerous (and i don't think) without to be a hacker XD
-
Going a step further; is there any way to customize this list? Rather than having a list of recently-used commands, it would be much more useful to simply have a list of commands I want quick access to that don't shuffle around as they are used.

Where are these eight RU commands to be found, please? On my right-click menu, I see only one:

How good is that....I always thought were stuck at 1 much less 8!

This does work for me. It's called "On Disk (internal)" in the right-click menu.

This works very well. I think I'll go with 12, though, as more items mean a little bit of scrolling in the menu to see all options.

on disk (external) is ok but on disc (internal) don't stay in the last 8 shortcuts so it's not very annoying but it's strange because i had this issue just after installed mc and do a library scanning.

I've got it here, and use it frequently. See attached.

A suggestion: it would be nice if the list avoided items which are already being shown.
Here we have duplicates of Rename and Tag, Delete is often duplicated as well.

I would still prefer to be able to create a custom list of shortcuts rather than having recent items displayed - having a list of recent items means that quickly accessing the commands still requires you to scan through the list to find the one you want, because their position keeps changing.

Me too!
Now I'm all excited.... off to do some importing.....

yep you're lucky but it doesn't appear for me :) external appear but no internal but it works with mediajukebox i have just tried.

Try using different commands to clear the list of the current MRU commands. Once clear, then try the Locate command. I've had issues like this in the past.

I like everything to appear in the top of the list, including the duplicates.

I have already tried this in the past too but it doesn't works i have also tried to reduce the count to 1 but no success.

I wonder what negative numbers do?
