From the point where MC automatically upgraded to 18.0.158, when I opened MC, JRService and JRWeb failed to start. I uninstalled MC and re-installed running the install as admin, all services started and everything looked good until I closed and reopened MC, the services again failed to start. I then configured the MC Icon to run as admin. Now MC seems to be starting normally, but after 1 or 2, or 3 if I'm lucky cd rips MC hangs and the only way to get out is to restart Windows. Overall I'm not impressed with MC18.

Welcome.
What you saw with install is not normal. Often these types of things are caused by security software that injects into every process.
Is the only remaining problem that you have a problem ripping audio CDs? Is there anything special about your ripping configuration?
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Matt.
I am now, and have been using ESET for a few years - currently at version 5 - and have never had a problem installing JRiver MC since I started with MC14. Maybe something changed in a recent update of ESET.
Regarding the issue with ripping CDs, I've been running MC on this system for a few years - I think the first version on this machine was MC16 - and have ripped 700+ CDs without a problem. In fact MC has been pretty much flawless until the upgrade to MC18. Other than an SSD replacement a few months ago and the MC18 upgrade two weeks ago nothing has changed on this system.
Thanks,
Jon
