My MacMini is my media server.
It is connected to an AV-Receiver in my living room.
The AV-Receiver has speakers connected in three rooms.
Whenever i am in another room, i control the MacMini with a MacBook via Apple Screen Sharing.
Unfortunately MC misbehaves when controlled via Apple Screen Sharing.
When a field in the grid is edited, the textbox/combobox remains on screen and doesn't go away until MC is closed.
Therefore i thought, i could run MC as Library Server on the MacMini and control it via MC as client on my MacBook.
But: Can the audio output remain on the MacMini (server), or does it go to the MacBook (client)?

When I connected my system up to a remote server, I got a bunch more "zones" that were all from that remote server. I didn't try it, but I imagine playing on those "zones" would cause the remote server to play the files.
Also, if you have an iPad/iPhone and haven't tried JRemote yet, I have found it to be well worth the $10.

Sure you can, that's exactly what I do. Mac Mini as library server, macbook as client. When you connect to the server you will see the zone from the server, I think default called "There".
If you select to play to zone There, music will be played on the server. You can also have it play on the client if you want.
And yes, if you have an iPad, check out JRemote; best music remote I know.

Thanks for your responses!
Ok, then i will try to output to the MacMini-Zone.
I'm new to zones, so i have to experiment a little.
I'm a user of JRemote, too, and i love it.
But it is not exactly meant to edit my somewhat wild library entries.
So i have to go the server-client route.
