Title: MC 18 Crashes Syncing Library

Hi,

Been using MC for years and at present have 18 installed build 166. One copy on my Media Centre under ma telly and one on ma laptop. Both libraries separate.

I normally rip music on my laptop with MC 18 in secure rip mode and save as ape files then when I get home I copy the newly ripped tracks to my Media Centre under ma telly.

After reading the forums and the wiki I found that it is possible to auto sync my libraries and any new files on my laptop would be copied over to my Media Centre so I configured my laptop DNLA settings to allow sharing and then used the ID number it gave me on my Media Centre to sync libraries. I did the sync at home and both laptop and Media Centre are connected to the same 1G switch. The sync started on the Media Centre and I thought great, this will save manually copying files each time I rip however MC 18 then crashed and closed down.

Am I doing something wrong? Can I enable any logging so you guys can look to see what went wrong in MC18.

Tried again tonight and it looked like it was working then MC crashed. I've attached the logged file.

Latest 169 build does the same. All firewalls are OFF.

When you say sync, what do you mean exactly?  Are you trying to keep both libraries in sync?

Doing that with DLNA probably won't work.  Did it ever?

Hi Jim,

I am trying to keep two libraries in sync. One on my fixes system and one on my laptop. I am using the JRiver Media Network option and in my library on fixed system I clicked Sync Library and gave it the id number of my laptop.

It starts to sync then crashes MC18.

Do you mean File > Library > Sync Library?

Does it matter if you turn off 'Merge files' or 'Merge playlists'?

Hi Matt,

Sorry for late reply. Yes this is what I'm doing File > Library >Sync Library

I created a new temp library on on my main Media Centre and then did sync with Merge files ticked. Merge playlists not ticked. This time it synced OK.

I'm suspecting my main library might be corrupt. Will try it again with mail library and both merge unticked and will report back.

Update: Sync library with both merge off and it's OK. Switch Merge files on and MC18 crashes.
