Years ago I got talked into switching the cable on my Sennheiser 580s.  Lots of people in discussion forums said the change was amazing, not subtle at all, etc.

I couldn't hear any difference.

But to be fair, I only did the "poor guy's" upgrade of getting the Sennheiser 600/650 cable instead of doing it right and getting one of the $1000+ cables.

I did the same Sennheiser cable swap but was only after a thicker, more heavy duty cable since my office chair keeps rolling over it.
