Title: A fine day...
Post by: MrC on April 18, 2013, 01:01:48 pm
Today I'm fortunate enough to be enjoying a stay at the Ritz-Carlton in one of the Southern California beach communities, and later pampered with an aromatherapy massage.  Life is good.  Wish you were all here too.  I'll save a place in the sand.

It's rain and snow here.  Nice of you to think of us.

Along the path down from the resort, and looking back up at the resort from the beach.

Just returned from an hour-long aroma-therapy massage.  Sweet.  Time for dinner at a local art gallery (http://www.hobrecht.com).  We met the artist last night, and he'll be attending the dinner.

There's a Regina Brett saying I like: "If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back."

But I'll be honest, this thread makes your pile look a little tempting!

My problems continue to grow.

Today its off to Jetpack (http://www.xperiencedays.com/Newport_Beach_Jetpack_Flight_Experience.html?gclid=CKLaluyN17YCFct7QgodsSEA3A) and after that a trip to Disneyland for some fun and a private dinner.  We'll be led by a police escort to avoid LA traffic.  The weather is beautiful again.

I heard you choked on your lobster last night.

Careful with the bugs.  We still feed them to prisoners here.

(Ok, by prisoners I mean post-docs, but same thing, really.)

I had to look at your beautiful pictures again. Saturday we had a record low of 23 F, yesterday it got up to 69 F and was sunny, and tonight it is supposed to snow with the temps dropping to 27 F. When it is late April and the temperature, wind speed, barometric pressure, and seasonal snow fall accumulations are all the same number you know its been a long winter in Nebraska.

Thanks.

The retreat was wonderful.  And I'll close with a few final pictures.

If you have to workout indoors, I suppose there was nothing wrong with putting in a couple of hours at the hotel's gym, finishing with an hour-long Swedish massage and an outstanding private party / dinner at the Mission San Juan Capistrano.  (I will not frighten you with any massage pictures).

Sublime.

Here's a flyer from the Hobrecht Sports Art gallery in Laguna Beach, CA where we had a catered dinner.  The artist is outstanding (and a heck of a nice guy), with great attention to detail, and his works have a dream-like quality to them.  We'd met and talked with Dave the night before, and again during dinner while he was working on another piece.

I think bob will appreciate the baseball pieces.
