I tried setting the initial silence to synchronize hardware (USB DAC) up to 10 seconds, but the DAC does not lock in this period, only when the music starts playing... and it skips a 1/4 of second or so.
Why is that feature not working?
Maybe if instead of silence it would play a ultrasonic tone @ -120dB?

Some DACs do special stuff on silence like auto-mute.
I'm not sure on the idea, but if you can get to +10 in this thread, we'll consider playing leading low-level noise instead of leading silence.
You might also ask your DAC manufacturer if they have any advice.

Strange, I thought I had replied to this already. (must have typed up a post and closed the wrong tab, I guess)
Seems like a reasonable fix for hardware that does this, and as long as it is at the minimum level possible for the selected bit-depth, I don't see it impacting people that aren't experiencing this.
While it should be inaudible, I wonder if a low frequency tone would be better than a high frequency one.

As long as it doesn't freak out pets. :)

Well if you are playing at the minimum volume level that the output bit-depth you are using supports, it shouldn't be audible at all. (even plain undithered 16-bit will be -96dB)

If you are saying that you consider adding features that 10 customers want, then I can think of two that got that many requests in previous threads:
* "Add Album to Playing Now" (which is just the code from "Locate Album" plus the code from "Add to Playing Now")(there are 10 different right-click Play options, it is amazing that is not one of them)
* Option in Options that is "Do not display Recently Imported Smartlist after importing"
Thanks from all those who have requested these.

I'm sure its not that simple.
Its probably more of the lines like "This sounds like an acceptable idea and would be easy to change, if a few people want it we can do it", rather then a generic "get 10 votes for a change". Basically Matt already implied that he could see himself agreeing to the change, just wants a bit of support to make sure its time well spent. Can't translate this to every feature you would like to have. :p

Well, when "Add Album to Playing Now" was first proposed to be added to the 10 other right-click Play options, and received many enthusiastic "+1"s, I assumed that it was ignored, because there were so many major problems to deal with (such as Mac version).
Then very recently, I see:
NEW: Holding down the Shift key while double-clicking an audio track will start Play Doctor playback with that track
which indicates minor GUI preference changes can be implemented.
Actually, if there was some sort of Macro capability, I could just have a Macro key do "Locate Album" and then do "Add To Playing Now",..

In my opinion, it's not polite to put totally unrelated feature requests in someone's thread.

Okay, I'll respect that in the future...
... but note that there was a thread for the feature request, and one of the most popular site members inadvertently pushed the thread off into a discussion of an entire different subject.
I politely asked for the Mod to split the thread into two different ones, to preserve the feature request thread, but nothing happened.
