This version works much better.  I didn't have to run that reg file either.  Looks like memory optimization was off by default becasuse it runs constant at 16MB.

Thanks

>>In the last couple builds playback skips like a dirty CD. Looking at task manager shows memory usage steadily increase >>to about 5MB and then it jumps down to less than 1MB. Its during this decrease in memory usage that it skips. It does >>it every few seconds and makes playback rather nasty. The farther the decrease the worse the skip is. So if it goes >>from 8MB to less than 1MB the stop in playback is rather large. If it drops just a meg than the skip is barly >>noticable. Reinstalled didn't help. When the skips occurs my whole system freezes up for a few seconds.

If Custom Fields are renamed their new names do not appear in the Tooltips

Bugs:
1. MP3 ID3v1 tag updating still fails!!  Every file I try to edit fails...Dr.Tag v1.92 works fine...went back to MJ beta 234 and it works fine (for updating tags).  See:

Update:
FIXED!!  MJ had turned off my 'Update tags when file info changes' option when the 'Clear "Recently Imported" playlist on exit' feature was implemented in 236.  Imagine it was the tied to the bugs reported against this new checkbox in 236 as I disabled it immediately in 236.  I think it is alright now, but 236 cleared my 'Update tags...' option (not very nice...hahaha).

2. When you press Ok to the dialog above, the input focus is lost and you have to grab the mouse and click somewhere in MJ to get it back...argh!!

Hi,

I too am having some problems with re-tagging
of MP3 files. Perhaps just bumped into it, but
this problem existed all along.

I'm getting a message that ID3 tags have not
been updated, because of one of 3 conditions,
but none are true.  There is another one
that makes re-tagging a problem.

Hi,

Sorry about the ID3 tag post.  It must have unchecked itself
during an update.  It worked in the prev beta.

As a cleanup suggestion - perhaps a hint might be added
on error messages such as that one, on where to look.
I went to the Encoding settings where tags are selected.

9. NEW: Added MJVersionAutomation interface and GetVersion fuction to MJ Automation (see documentation)

I'm curious as to what this option does.  I couldn't find it in the docs.  Sorry, this is from beta 8.0.236...

Thanks!

Activating file properties the dialog sometimes doesn’t come up in focus? Also, escape and enter only works in the left window of do. Leaving the dialog doesn’t return focus to the file edited.
In the final release will there be accelerator keys in the context sensitive menus?

Toggle between internal view and full screen view still has problems remembering what was selected. Example-select track info template internal view and toggle to full screen. If vis was the last item selected in full screen view it will show instead of track info template. Same thing happens in reverse order.

Also, is Arsenolite now a standard plug-in? I uninstalled last build and it shows up in display plug-ins again. I did not install it again.

Additional-> Settings-Options-Playback. The between tracks screen still has flicker.

MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in
module ARSENOLITE.DLL at 0167:046a7339.

Messing around with the visualizations when I got this one. Had window mode vis going. Was looking for arsenolite scripts when this popped up. Again, arsenolite is not installed but still shows up. Probably my fault for looking at ghosts.

I posted this a couple versions ago.

When using Track Info page "MusicEx, cover art is not linked to this page.
Also, when using the "Edit Properties link", it goes to a blank page, it does not open the properties.
All other Track Info pages work find with cover art.

Just a reminder it is still not working.
Is it me and my computer only!

When playback is finished on the last song in playing now the display changes from time remaining to Live.  It then stops but keeps repeating the last second of the song.  Hitting stop doesn't stop playback. I have to select a new song to play to stop the repeat.  This only happens when using Direct Sound, doesn't happen using Wave Out.

Many times when I right click on an item (playlist, media view, display window) I get "Analyzing Devices". What is that all about? A bug? Design? Am I the only one that gets this?

Request:
1. Can we get a Play button Behavior setting for "Play selected visible files" and maybe change "Play visible files" to "Play all visible files"? This would give the Play button 3 Behaviors. Or, change the list to "Play Visible Files (All)", "Play Visible Files (Selected)" and "Play Playing Now". Of course, if Selected is enabled and nothing is selected currently, then All should be assumed.  I really feel a 'Play selected files' option is needed here.

Update: 03/31/2002 10:55PM
This would be similiar to selecting tracks, right-clicking and choosing Play.  I just want the Play button behavior to act like this when playback is currently stopped (of course).

Metamorphis Bug:
1. If mini-me does NOT have the application focus and you right-click anywhere on the skin...nothing happens.  It takes a second right-click to bring up the right-click menu.  This is the same problem a normal left-click used to have, but was fixed a few weeks back.

Been having problems buring a data CD for the last several builds.  I can complete a test burn OK with no erros but when I take test off I get this error message when its done writing all the tracks to the CD.

If I look at it with other burning programs they see an open session and even after closing the session I am still unable to get to the files a copied.  Drive is a Plextor 8x4x32, auto insert notification is turned off.

The graphic of the error message didn't seem to work, what was the text of it?
Is the amount of data you're burning near the capacity of the CD?

Here I'll give it another try on the picture.

The disk had 2.5MB left on it.  I did get the computer to read the files on it though.  I restarted, closed session with Easy CD Creator, and it then read the disk.  It would not read the disk until I closed the session though.  Do I need to give it more room to finalize the session?

I created another CD with 165MB free and it copied fine.  Thanks for the suggestion JohnT.  I would think MJ would be able to close the session without any problems if Easy CD Creator can.  Also why must I restart the computer before Windows will see any of the files on the disk?

One other problem that I am getting is with long files names.  It asks me to truncate to 108 characters and then fails saying file name is to long.

When I update the properties it tells me something about not having the id3 thing checked.......as far as I can tell it is.

I have to start again, to be able to make another copy.

Also, If I burn a CD and then try to open CD labeler, there is no Title Info or Track info listed. Why is this?? I have to print my covers first and then Burn the CD.

CD Labeler Margins Off for Avery 8931 Tray Inserts.

I'm using HP 722C printer and the margins need to be moved over 1/8" to the right - using the 5931 -8931 Pre-printed Media selection in the labeler. Vertical is right on.

Disc label is off a little, too. needs to move right about 1/16". Vertical is okay here, too.

If you schedule media scheduler to record at a certain time, MJ opens at that specified time
and the recorder box opens but MJ doesn't start playing so nothing is recorded.
Not even when turning on the option "start playing current playlist" on startup.

When "Auto-Hide Bar" is disabled, the "resize display for bars" does not work.
The bar comes over the visualisation so I lose a part of the visualisation or track info template.

When MJ is open and you schedule a recording with Media Scheduler, the recorder does not start.

Whenever I try to download cover art, MJ 8.0.237 hangs. I have to kill it with the task manager (Cancel doesn't work.) I can see it sends and receives a few packets before the hang. Downloading other info From CDDB works OK. Using Win2K.

In the Settings...Options...Device Settings dialog, under Audio CD Copy: When I try to change the drive letter, the change is discarded when the window is closed. However, this seems to have no effect on ripping CDs. To be more specific, I have two drives: a high-speed DVD/CD reader (drive E) and an HP CD-Writer (drive D). This dialog always shows D, and if I change it to E and click OK, it still shows D when the window is opened the next time. However, MJ always selects the E drive for ripping. Using Win2K.

MJ gets an Error 2 running the decoder on two out of 24 tracks on "Mercury Living Presence CD Six Suites Sonatas In G & D. Johann Sebastian Bach. Disc 2CD Janos Starker". MJ gets the error regardless of the encoding format or bit rate selected, even WAV. Windows Media Player converts it OK.

My guess is that the bug is related to the file name exceeding the Windows length limit (128 characters?) One of them is "Janos Starker - Six Suites Sonatas In G & D. Johann Sebastian Bach. Disc 2 - 14 - Sonata in D Major, BWV 1027. Allegro Ma Non Tanto.wma" Well over 128 characters. I tried ripping the file with Media Player and manually constructing the file name, but the name got truncated by Windows. The encoder is probably getting an error creating the file or maybe the encoder is getting confused by the truncation.

Dick,

You can rip from either drive...that settings screen is for setting up the configuration for both drive.  You select which drive to rip from (MJ doesn't) via the Device CD-Rom you have selected when you click Copy (Rip).

Display area isn't resized correctly when switching back to 'Playing Now' when "Auto-Hide" is OFF.

Custom Menus (including tray icon) goes Off-Screen. Using "Primary" specs instead of Secondary. Other menus/apps don't do this.

Slider Bar isn't updated when changing via the right-click menu.

Left clicking the slider bar when Auto-Hide is ON, menus disappear when the mouse moves off the display area.

MJ still crashes when starting to play a track from media library, then switching to playing now (no display), move slider down...MJ hesitates, crashes. This is leaving MJ open for awhile. Restart works fine.

When switching to window mode, the display area should show just playlist only and not an empty box and back to where it was when closing.

Switching to "Full Screen" goes to only the primary monitor. No choice to use other monitors.

When going to Full Screen, it doesn't account for "Desktop Space" and therefore the bottom bar is missing. I use Winbar, resizes the Desktop. Winbar shows in Full screen mode.

Desktop Area is resized in Full Screen, Windows are moving all over the place.

When coming back from Full Screen, MJ isn't maximize (where it was). It's stretched out again but using the "non-maximized" bitmaps. Have to restore & maximize to get it back to normal.

-----
Window Mode should be an option on the file menu like the other two.

Maximizing "Window Mode" should maximize to desktop area, not full screen. Having windows non-maximized but streched out isn't using the same bitmaps in XP. In my case, it uses transparency.

Option to show the "Display" all the time instead of just in "Playing Now" would be nice. I'll get into it more later.

Alright...MJ is resizing the "Full Screen" mode to "Monitor 1" specs which in my case is the "Secondary Monitor". It shows full screen on the "Primary Monitor" which happens to be "Monitor 2".

Download Manager goes past 100% on some fragment downloads and doesn't ask to overwrite file when starting a new download.

BUG

I Just Noticed When Using Rename By Field, And Also Using The Move Option

MJ Will Not Rename The File If It Has Some Chars In It Like '?' '"' (i was also using the path rename-move option)

The Illegal chars should be filtered out

I think it may not be cleaning the text to create the path to move the file in.

This also might also be the problem some people are talking about having when using the rename function

I will do some more testing today

Metamorphis Bugs:
1. The new GetScreenWidth and GetScreenHeight functions do not exclude the size of the Windows Taskbar. So, you can't use the functions for positioning your skin (if that's what they are for).

2. When you have the Equalizer turned OFF and you drag an EQ Band or Preamp slider, either the OnEqualizerChanged event is not firing or the MJMixerAutomation object's EQOn property is not set properly (when checked in the OnEqualizerChanged event call). In this case the EQ is turned back ON, but the skin's Power On button does not know the EQ has been turned back on (automatically).

Is there a naming template for "Album Artist"? If there isn't, there should be.

I've got a mixed CD that I'm trying to get MJ to rename the files based on properties, but I can't get it to rename for "Album Artist".

It would be cool if the hyperlink for http://www.replaygain.org in the Replay Gain Analyzer was a working link.

Actually, it would be cool if any and all hyperlinks displayed anywhere within MJ were working links.

When trying to connect to Music01, if MJ is open, it just makes it active, nothing else. If it's closed, then it connects to the server.

Unable to remove items from Playing Now when using Music01.

Will there be a balance control in the new EQ/DSP stuff? I'm asking because it's currently in mini-me only. Seems kinda odd.

"Analyzing Devices".
Doof
same thing you have but it goes ahead and does what you what (for me) I don't know why. It does it even if you select a song from a playlist click play then  Analyzing Devices  It plays the song no problem this is only the first time you use anything on the right click menu after you use it once it doesn't come up again. It has been in the last three build's that I have noticed this. It seems like MJ thinks you want to burn the song and it is looking for the burner.

Skin Manager Bug:
1. If your skin name in the main.xml file does not match the installed directory name (under MiniSkins), the Skin Manager's Delete function does not work.  Skin Manager makes you think the skin was deleted by removing it from the displayed list, but it actually didn't delete it off disk.  Exit the Skin Manager and bring the Skin Manager back up and the deleted skin is back.  Looking in the MiniSkins directory, you can see that the Skin Manager actually did nothing.

I can't successfully encode to MPC except through "External Encoder". It "copies" OK and starts encoding but hangs at about 60%. MJ locks up and if I try to restart MJ, Windows locks up.

Also, there's no option to "Configure" ANY of the encoder plug-ins through the "Plug-Ins" options button. If you attempt a rip, you can go to "Options" from there and it works fine.

I deeply miss DSP and Analyze Replay Gain. I know they'll be back but I still miss them.

mini-me Bug:
1. While viewing the playlist in mine-me mode, if you use drag-n-drop to re-arrange the playlist order, MJ will immediately crash.  See:

Update: 04/01/2002 10:40AM
Based on Doof's comment, I tried this with another skin (Rotar) and MJ did not crash.  So, with my LowerRight skin, MJ will crash (through no fault of mine).  So, Nikolay...please try it with the LowerRight skin.

Update: 04/01/2002 10:43AM
Well, it doesn't crash with LowerRight again...must a hard-to-replicate type bug...my prior playlist was only 11 tracks and may have been for tracks not imported into MJ (not sure).

Download Manager : If Download Manager is running when Windows shuts down, it doesn't remember the last state of your download list. I have DM running all the time, and if I clear items out of DM, and then shut Windows down, DM will have the same files listed when it starts up again even though I've cleared them out. I have to clear them out, close DM, then restart it for the files to stay gone.

Problems with loading some mini-me skins.  For example the ECHELON skin will not load.  Tried removing and readding but still won't start.  Several other skins fail to.  All non-wimamp style.

Maybe I posted in the wrong spot but I wish someone would at least acknowledge that this is a real problem in 8.0.237:

I was ripping some CD's with MJ 8.0.237. While ripping was in progress, I renamed some of the CDs that had just been ripped in the CD-DVD list. I did this by right click and rename. Everything looked OK until the rip was finished. When I went to look at the CD list, all were named the same! but with (xx) to distinguish it from the others.
Oh well, I can go back and rename them since it is only a dozen at this time. But I hope this gets resolved before I complete my collection.

This is easily reproducible.

Seems to work here.  I only tested by editing the comment field, but it didn't crash.

MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7b9a6.

Got this one changing between mega-me and zrockers lower-right mini skin. Also had playbackeng.dll at the same time but could not copy it. Note- I was moving some of Doof's altered track files around while MJ was open but not playing. This occured just after the file move and playback was restarted.

I think there may be a bug with the index feature of the help file. Type in interact and see if mini-me info pops up.

Visualization Engine : On XP, if I have a vis running and I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to lock my system, when I unlock my system, the vis window only displays the section of my desktop wallpaper that it was covering. I have to stop playback and hit play in order to get the vis to run again.
