Title: CPU Usage
Post by: Fred1 on May 04, 2013, 01:27:07 am
In version 18.0.178 MC sits there, not doing anything and eating up between 30 and 40% of my CPU, together with kernel_task.
After starting MC, the fan of my MacBook (core2duo) spins high and gets disturbing.
It looks as if MC is working in the background, but auto import is off.
Didn't notice that before.

The GUI is beginning to get unresponsive.
Every now an then, instead of taking my keystrokes, MC is thinking, if it should do what i want.
It is showing the beachball then for one or two seconds before actually doing the task (skipping the track or increasing the volume, for example).

OS is 10.7.5.
There are about 50,000 records in the library.

MC 18.0.177

MC off ,cpu usage 5-14% memory 46%
MC on playing song, cpu usage 6-18%, memory 47-48%
OS windows 7/64
size of library 1.66 TB (havent measured file numbers)

More importantly, there is no lag or hanging, so wonder if this is not a systemic problem with your computer or perhaps a mac specific issue?

MC 18.0.178 (Mac) is the first build where i have this problem.
The builds before were responsive and had very low CPU usage.

Seems to me that MC is running a background process now because of the kernel_task, that is running permanently and consumes 18-25% CPU alone.

After closing MC, the kernel_task vanishes, too.

Here is a screenshot after a restart of the MacBook and a fresh start of MC.
No other program is running:

Can't find anything about high CPU usage here  ?.
