Title: Cannot scan for set top box channels
Post by: bv1pacb on May 12, 2013, 12:19:30 pm
Using MC 18.0.180 and a Hauppage 2250 with their latest driver, a scan for analog channels returns, as expected, only one: "Cable 3", as fed from the Comcast cable converter.  However a further scan for set top box channels cannot proceed because "Cable 3" is not subsequently presented as an "Analog channel on which to receive signal from STB".  Only the Composite, SVideo and Video Aux options appear on the dropdown list.  Note that TV viewing directly from channel "Cable 3" is possible, except, of course, that the Comcast remote must then be used for channel switching.  Logs emailed.

There was a problem in the scanning and it was fixed in the build available here:

Problem confirmed.  For some reason the cable channels 3 and 4 are not included in the selection.  I will work on it today.

Which version of MC do you have?

Did you scan the Colossus first to identify the Tuners available? You should have two analog and two digital tuners. Then you scan the Tuners for channels.

Retried with 19.0.51 and it worked thanks!!

However now I couldn't get the Media Center remote blaster to learn IR from my STB...So back to Sage. :(

I've never been able to accomplish this (learning STB channels) with either MC 18 or 19, although my MC remote works perfectly in every other respect.  I get this message: "You don't a appear to have a Media Center receiver connected to your computer.  Please connect it and try again."  So, in fact, I still have to use the STB remote to switch channels.

Out of curiosity I tried to set the blaster with Windows Media Center (which I had uninstalled when I installed windows on my PC)
I reinstalled WMC, tried to configure the blaster with it and all of a sudden I could ALSO get JRiver to learn codes (Using 19.0.82)

While doing the set-up with JRiver I re-uninstalled WMC (add/remove Windows Programs in control panel) and it stopped working right away it would not detect IR codes again.

So there's obviously a dependancy to WMC which I could not find explained anywhere on the Wiki or in the forums...

Guys?

thanks.
