Here's the situation as I've described it in many many many bug threads.
I have a playlist that consists of nothing more than 2 30 minute APL files. Both of these APL's come from the same 60 minute APE. It's basically just ocean sounds, and it's what I sleep to at night (very relaxing). For the last bunch of builds, every morning when I wake up, MJ has crashed while playing this playlist (mjplayer.dll).
I've tried to reproduce this. I've tried playing it with vis, without vis, fullscreen, mini-me... it doesn't seem to matter. I've asked whether there could be a problem with the APE/APL plugin, I've asked about checking the integrity of the files, I've had MAC run the Verify option on the APE (it came out fine). I even ran the sleep timer with it so I could get an idea of how long it would play for before crashing - usually anywhere between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours). I haven't had one bit of luck narrowing it down (and keep in mind that each test could run for an hour) and no peep from the JRiver guys about this. I'm not upset about this, I realize that if you can't reproduce it, you can't fix it, and if I can't reproduce it without sheer brute force of letting it play for an hour, then I don't expect you to either.
I can play a playlist consisting of MP3's (maybe a few APEs/APLs mixed in) for hours, I even let it play throught the weekend one time while I was gone. But this one playlist will crash MJ every time. So logically, I would suspect the playlist (or more accurately, the songs within that playlist) but again, I've tried everything I can think of to verify the integrity of these files. This problem is been rather persistent, but it's varied slightly in various builds. Sometimes it would crash overnight, but if I let it play during the day it was fine. Lately, though, it crashes all the time.
So does anybody out there (especially Matt - since APE is his baby) have any ideas about what to try next? Is there a problem with the APE decoder? Is there a problem with the way MJ handles APLs (whatever happened to the "smart bitrate" thing?)? Is it most likely that my APE is corrupted (in which case, why isn't MAC reporting this?)?
Help!

Doof,
If you can burn it to a CD, please send it and we'll take a look.

Ok, I'll give that a try.
I think tonight, though, what I'll do is just re-rip the CD and see if that clears it up. If that doesn't work, I'll drop it in the mail, complete with APLs.

There is your answer!
Take it from the pants wearer of a sleep walking wife.
She would get up in the middle of the night, usally after the first 1/2 to 1-1/2 hour of sleep, and begin to push all the buttons on all the electronic gadgets we own. Even the clock radio would not work the next morning.
Try tying your hands behind your back for just a one night experiment. Bet you it will work fine, althought you might not sleep well with your hands tied behind your back (maybe the music will help?).
By the way, although I am the pants, wearer, she insists on telling me which pair of pants to wear!

Well, I re-ripped and encoded the CD, and so far, it's played through 1.5 times without a crash. Hopefully this is it.
