Title: Theater View Questions - Customising the views
Post by: icstm on May 21, 2013, 09:44:09 am
OK,

I hope people do not mind, but I have a few questions on how to improve the views into my movie collection.
Having set up the TV shows the way I like, I am struggling to do the same for movies.

I will add the key areas here and post the details in the posts below:

1) Grouping by Duration (post 2) - pending

2) Grouping by IMDB Rating (post 2) - pending

3) List movies format (post 2) - pending
Title: The first 3 questions
Post by: icstm on May 21, 2013, 09:50:25 am
1) Grouping by Duration

I would like to Group movies by duration

This groups into 10min groups, which is what I want, but displays the captions underneith the groups in seconds. I would like to format in either mins or Hours/mins.

So that I can see movies that are 120-130mins, or 2hrs-2hrs10

Even if it just said 120mins and the next group was

2) Grouping by IMDB Rating
I tried using the critic rating field, but this has some crazy values for a few movies and plausable values for the rest, but they are not the ones on imdb or allmovieguide. Many movies appear over rated.

How can I get sensible ratings. WMC7/MediaBrowser pulls the right scores as does mediaCentreMaster

3) List movies format

When Using these views, rather than seeing a sexy flow of movies, I like a more compact view, much like TV episodes are listed.
That is a list of Movies down the left, with their fanart in the background of the highlighted movie and the cover on the top right, with the details on the bottom right.
At the moment I often the the movies in a poster view on the left.

Would you mind awfully if I BUMP this?

Especially the first issue around formatting the grouped and sorted by duration would be very helpful.

Please, any thoughts on (1)  :-[

If I do not use [duration,0] and just use [duration], the format is better, but the grouping does not work  :(

For number one, try: formatrange(math([duration,0]/60),10)

@marko
Thank you for that.
Might not format the group text ideally but it groups exactly liked I asked and looks better than I had it!
Is it easy to add "mins" to the end of the text?

As easy as it is to type it...

formatrange(math([duration,0]/60),10) Mins

:)

That what happens when you are trying this after a few drinks at midnight! :P

BTW, what skin are you using? (I assume it is you skin that provides the clock in that view, it looks a little like Rapier Fusion)
And is it the skin that provides that very nice thin strip view along the top with the now play info and player controls?

Well spotted. It is indeed Rapier Fusion, modded to accommodate my Theater View meanderings away from the default.

Unfortunately, that "very nice thin strip" is not part of the skin. It's a discontinued plugin that's no longer available.

I took the snap on my desktop PC where it runs permanently, and has done for so many years now, I keep forgetting it's there before posting images. It's an awesome little thing with a very powerful armoury. It's what takes care of the image in my signature, for example. You can see what I have available at all times, even if only Media Server is running here (http://www.pix01.com/gallery/1E1AFDF0-C2E5-410D-8B16-50D9EDBF0DB9/PlayingNow_Plugin/bigpage.html?image=1033729785_orig0.jpg#).

It's sad that it's no longer available. Some of us live in hope that it will be resurrected at some time in the future. It can't be shared at the moment as it's licensed, and the license info displays personal info.

that is EXACTLY how I have used Winamp from the late 90s until I started using MC. Same as you it would not go all the way across the top so that I can see the control buttons of whatever maximised application I was running as well :)

Can your Rapier Fusion mods be shared?

They can, but might not be much use to you unless you have the same meanderings as me, which is unlikely...

Slideshow of the frontend can be seen here (http://www.theganghut.co.uk/galleries/rapier/bigpage.html?image=862486581_orig0.jpg#), Images and icons can be found here (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=69662.msg473480#msg473480).
