Just installed the latest update that MC18 pushed to me. New version is 18.0.189.
Playback through my Asus Xonar DX suddenly won't work. It worked just fine before the update ...

So choosing WASAPI (after I eventually found it : Tools -> Options -> Audio -> Output mode) allows MC to playback.
But WHY did it go screwy in the first place?

I disabled automatic updates. I lost use of my old Wasapi settings as well.

The terminology changed. Did you find the thread called "New WASAPI"?

If you were using the old WASAPI (non event style), you just need to check the option (under Audio/Output Mode Settings) called "Disable event style". That will give you exactly what the old WASAPI was. That WASAPI is the least common but is required by some DAC's.
I'll merge this with one of the other similar threads.

I did uncheck disable event style, and my old Wasapi settings caused random static, so I had to change them. You answer is not so easy, more to just disabling, other things changed as well!
