Hi there,
I am trying to stream radio using JRiver and then to "send" the stream to my DLNA devices.
I am able to play the radio stream in MC18. I have added 2 streams into a new playlist called "Radio Stations"
BUT if I try to "send" the streams to my DVTV live hubs, I get an error "there was a problem controlling th selected DLNA device"
Trying to access the stream via webgizmo results in "the requested file does not exist"
JRiver - sending to another device simply does not work.
trying to play on the ipad (This Device setting) results in an error "no sound... Bass_error_fileOPEN/nhttp:..192...
has anyone been able to get MC to stream radio to other devices?
Thanks

anyone??

Most of the time it works properly, but sometimes I receive the same message. It seems to be worse in theater mode
-
anyone??

The stream URL is not processed in any way by MC. The rendering device must accept the stream URL as is. Some devices will, some will not (one big reason is that the stream URL has no size parameter for the renderer).

Has anyone had success streaming radio to a WDTV Live Hub? Are there any specific things I can do within the settings of MC18?
Of note, people have been able to get TVersity to work with radio streams as per the following info

I'm not sure this addresses your specific situation, but did you see the wiki entry?

Yes. I did all those steps.
Om webgizmo I get the following "the requested file does not exist. Click to proceed."
Advice would be great as I really want to be able to stream specific radio stations around my home

Yeah, I figured as much. I've not done this myself, so I can't offer anything else...

anyone have any thoughts?
Support from MC developers??
Bob - your comment "The stream URL is not processed in any way by MC. The rendering device must accept the stream URL as is..." Why then does GIZMO provide an error when playing on the SAME computer that has MC installed. That is, MC will directly play a radio stream but one can not SEND it anywhere ir access it via gizmo.
Thoughts?

I'd guess that is a bug, certainly playing to the same MC.

so to whom do i report this bug?

You just did ;)

Any luck with this issue.
To provide an update, using a WDTV I can access radio by going to recent media and then selecting the radio station. So in that sense, I am able to stream music.
HOWEVER, I am unable to SEND radio FROM JRiver to any other device, webgizmo does not work, and I am unable to us JRemote to stream radio either to the IPAD device or to any other location.
I believe that this is a JRiver bug

It isn't a bug. It's a limitation. You may be able to add a URL to a playlist and play that.
-
Sorry.... Bug versus limitation?
Is this something that can be corrected?
Will it be corrected?
URL is not an option if I am trying to SEND radio broadcast from my computer to my stereo located in a different location.
I have added URL to playlists.... there is NO way to SEND it to a different location so I am not sure what your suggestion is actually referring to.
-
Perhaps a limitation for your particular stream?
I just tested with a mp3 stream as a URL in my radio playlist.
Plays on the PC when using JRemote to play it there.
Plays to WDTVLive when using JRemote.

Bob,
I have tried numerous streams. Again, I can listen to streams on the actual computer that has MC installed and I can get to the stream through the WDTV but I can NOT send to a device or use JRemote or use Gizmo
Can you use JRemote and PLAY on the actual Ipad device?
Can you tell me about your settings so I can see if I can trouble shoot?
Here is one stream for example: http://3323.live.streamtheworld.com:80/
Here is another one: http://146.255.34.186:9988/
I have set it up as a new playlist called Radio Stations. If I send it to a device from MC18, I get the following" there was a problem controlling the selected DLNA device. Double check your device, sever, and network settings."
Any advice would be helpful as I am trying to get this to work so that we can use JRemote to control all audio and video in our home (This is the missing link before I start working on streaming TV).

No. It's not passing URL's through. It probably should. That is what I was referring to.

That URL appears bad, at least from here.
Here is another one: http://146.255.34.186:9988/
This one works fine. I add it by doing File->Open URL (click the box for web media options).
When it's playing in MC I go to Audio->Connected Media->My Connected Media. Right click on the station, Add to playlist (my radio playlist).
In JRemote I can play that to Player and my WDTVLive zone. Playing to a DLNA device will be highly dependent on the device firmware.
I have set it up as a new playlist called Radio Stations. If I send it to a device from MC18, I get the following" there was a problem controlling the selected DLNA device. Double check your device, sever, and network settings."
I'd suspect that means the device doesn't like the URL as presented.
Any advice would be helpful as I am trying to get this to work so that we can use JRemote to control all audio and video in our home (This is the missing link before I start working on streaming TV).

If you can PUSH to your WD devices with a different control point / server FROM your PC and you are willing to do a wireshark dump of the interaction, you can email it to me: bob (at) jriver (dot) com and I'll take a look at it.
