Title: Can I add Synology folders via nfs?
Post by: Van G on May 29, 2013, 10:08:43 am
Trying out MC18 on a Win 8 64 htpc. I store all my media on a Synology DS212j which is up to date.

For my XBMC setup I've setup the media through nfs:\\lan ip\folder. I do this because when I launch XBMC, it will wake the DS.

Am I able to setup in MC18 in a similar manner? Was attempting this by configuring auto-import but it could not find folder.

No, you'll have to map the share to a UNC folder path.

In all my years on this forum, this is the first NFS request I recall seeing.  Time for NFS to die.

I have a DS209 and my MC PC runs Win7 Pro.  Enable Windows Sharing Service, i.e. SMB/CIFS, on the Synology then you can access it from MC with \\<NASNAME>\<FOLDER>.  MC will wake the NAS on startup.

You do have to connect to the share at least once through Windows Explorer (so Windows can cache your credentials) first.
