Title: Bug: Incorrect Channel tag info for 7.1 DTSMA
Post by: dean70 on June 02, 2013, 05:38:18 pm
Can the channel tag be manually edited? I have an mkv of a blu-ray, which is 7.1 channel, but the Auto Import process tags the film as 5.1 (6 channel). Have verified via Audio Path that it is definately 8 channel & need to correct the Channel field to reflect the correct value. How can this be done - the field is greyed out from editing?

This is a known MC problem. DTS-HD MA tracks are not correctly read for the channel field, or indeed, the bitrate and compression fields. I have a custom field called [aud.chnls], and I manually fill 5.1, 2.0, 7.1, mono etc. Using auto import rules it may be possible to fill in a custom field for all non-DTS tracks (MC deems all DTS-HD MA tracks to be DTS up to 5.1).

Thanks for that info. Is there any other way to change the value in this field (automation, script)?

Alas, this field is not editable, as you have seen. Hence my creation of a custom field. Besides, I think 5.1 and 7.1 are more informative than 6 or 8 channels.

Maybe it is something that can be looked into?
