I Have Been Playing With EMusic And The MJ Download Manager For The Past Few Hours.
It Seems To Interface With EMusic Nicely.
You Can Download Entire Albums, I Am Currently Downloading Every Creedence Clearwater Revival Album (CCR) With A click Of A Button, And As They Download MJ Is Playing Them.
MJ Did Crash once, Not Sure Why But On The Next Finished Download It Rebooted MJ.

Do you dowload the box or each albums?there is a lot of rare stuff in the box
Download manager is great. And it keeps the connection better than FreeAmp.The other thing is that FreeAmp mess around with fast downloads[220-300kps]not Download manager
I had the same problem than you, told i want my music at D/emusic and got it at C/download manager
I changed setting from both entrys option and setting and now it is ok. i did from friday afternoon up to this morning non stop Emusic downloads ,no problem
If you came from RealJukebox as a download manager, you must feel a very great improvement

When On EMusic I have been clicking on the Blue Check Mark
(Download Entire Album) And Not The Green Check Mark
And That Is For Downloading One Song At A Time.

Yes...the Download Manager and eMusic get along very, very nice...I like it.

If you know when DM crashed.Just start again to download the same album. You will get a window for each song you have downloaded ,and you can download only the missing songs
I mean with a click on full album, not one song after an other
-
thats the problem i should not need to do that.
also the little message box that pops up i should not need to select cancel, i never want to see that message box ever again.
if the file is there i never want it to download it again. [X] Never Download Again If Already Downloaded
Also If File Exists, i Do Not Want To Manualy "Clear" it From The Download List

-
On your side concerning the pop up box it is a f#####
But if not the box.How can you redownload the song if there is a problem with the mp3?
And this happens from time to time.More if you have a very fast connection
-
There Is An Option, Replace Existing I Found In The Setup That May Work, but i would rather not re-download a file i already have.
I just don't want the message box to pop up, just bypass it.
-
Update: Downloaded Files 1,300|PLS|
Since I Turned Off the Option To Play Downloaded Files In MJ After The Have Been Downloaded The Download Manager Has Not Crashed
-
What's the deal with emusic again? Reduced bitrate? Refresh my memory...
-
A few users don't like the sound quality. Everything's at 128, which is acceptable for me anyway. A couple of broken files, but they're quick to replace them.

the deal is
$10 a month-unlimited downloads-full albums-you can download the same song as much as you like
-you can download from and to any computer-free mp3 you can burn- one click full album download-standart mp3=128kps
the sound of the mp3 is fine-some encoding problems[i will put the rate at 0,001%]
in this case you contact them and they re=encode
GREAT customer service

Clicking on the blue button does nothing for me. I can only click on the individual tracks...
-
I ran into this in a prior build, seems to be straightened out in 8.0.234. Try opening DL manager before you click on the album button.
It does seem that DL manager is sucking up a lot of memory, but that's probably because I'm downloading five files at a time.

Harry the Hipster
been downloading 15 at a time it seems if you go much higher than that On Emusic there is a connect falure (I tried 50 Downloads)
Also It seems only to crash from time to time when the option to play mp3s when downloaded is checked.
-
While I agree with the concept of a download service that compensates the artists (and the labels, I suppose, although including labels in a music download model gags me), I find it hard to believe that a pay service offering only 128 kbps will flourish when free trading of high bitrate mp3's is rampant.

No disagreement, but this is all we've got right now. Either that, or rip streams and hope for the best.

128kbps is not the ideal kpbs (I Prefer VBR High), but it is better than nothing, and if you like the Album you can go buy it.

You miss the point on it
First Emusic is not new.Few years ago mp3 128 was a hight standart.Second,MOST of the people still have moden 56kps connection.I started Emusic still with such a connection
They will have to give you 128-192 maybe 392 kps.And you will have to pay more.No because of the better format, because of the work they will have to do
Now ,have a look at Emusic selection. For 80% of it,not the stuff you find on 'Napster"
Take my last downloads
from yesterday; the Dirtbombs-dead moon- screws-gories-honeymoonkillers.Around 12 full albums
Search on Imesh=1 song 128
Kakaa=1 song 128
Audiogalaxy=2 bands, only they last album in 392-other songs at 128
Let say you have a deal with your records shop. For $10 a month you get a large box of new cassettes.Music your style. You put part in the trash, part you like it but to have it on cassette is enought, part you want to get the cd.It is a fair deal for you this $10 against a box?
Beside it,again and again i do say that 128kps mp3 played on MediaJukebox or FreeAmp,the computer plug on a very good stereo give an very acceptable sound.True i would like very much 192 kps instead of 128
King ans HTH
I download songs one after one.I got big speed from 1600 up to 2600.Most of the time around 1800.I am not sure that to download 5 or 10 songs at once is faster.
With one download at the time, you can do others downloads from "napster' updates and so on
There is an other aspect to it.Some albums are very hard to download. You get slow speed downloads. If you run many downloads at once, you may lost the connection. With one by one you do not get this problem.Let say almost.
DM is far better than FreeAmp to keep connection with a "problem album"
I do not speak about Real.......the only download manager who works backward...
Concerning the 3 p2p softwares,i know about spywares,i run the hacked versions=with no spyware

I have to agree with Zevele10,
The selection is incredible, especially if you love jazz like I do. The sound quality is very good enough for me and I have never encountered a problem with any files so far. I have downloaded quite a few full albums from there and it is worth EVERY penny that I send them.I have a 56K dialup and I use Metaproducts "Download Express" and it works perfectly with Emusic. For some reason Download Express doesn't really work on the mp3.com site, any files I have ever downloaded from there come back choppy and skips. I have to do a regular download on there and who has got the time for that.
-
Just for the record.
Re quality of eMusic MP3s and MP3/128 in general.
Does anyone know the source of the MP3s that eMusic posts? Do the record labels make the MP3s or does eMusic? Whichever the case I think the source material has to have an impact as does the encoder.
I was really happy to find Bill Evans "Portrait in Jazz" and Cecil Taylor "Looking Ahead" but if you listen to the two albums the difference in sound quality is amazing. The Bill Evans material is brighter, more detailed and a treat to listen to, the Taylor material is less satisfying. Yet both albums are in MP3/128 format. As with LPs of old and new CD releases there is a big range in the sound quality of the source material and I think its too easy to lay all the blame for poor sound quality on the MP3/128 format.
Cheers.

KingSparta,
Could you let us know how much (%) of your collection comprises of downloads from the Net. And how long (yrs/mths) it took you to amass your collection.

Shumi
well i have more than 2000 cd-roms, i have downloaded from MP3.com, emusic and others I don't have a clue one any percent
some of the cd-roms i don't even know i have, but since they are all encoded i just look them up in MJ if i need to.

Full Album Download works fine at home, but not at work. Presumably another firewall issue? Individual song downloads work fine, though.
This EMusic thing could get addictive. I queued up 400 files to download last night. It's rather nice knowing that it's even legal.
This may just be worth $10 a month.
-
Doof,
Were there any error messages? Could you describe a little how it failed? Downloading Full Album and individual song should work the same, at least in the technical stand point.

Well... I just tried it again at work with this build and the first time I clicked on the album button nothing happened. I went into Download Manager's options, and all I changed was the download location, and now it's working. This is bad. At home I'm on a 56k dialup, so it tends to temper my desire to download a whole mess of files (even then, I queued up 400 last night!!), but here at work, we're on DSL... Nothing good can come of this.
But before, I would click the button and just nothing would happen. No error message, no songs showing up in DM, nothing.
-
Ok, it's working, sort of. Sometimes I click on full album and it works right away, other times it doesn't work until I've clicked it a few times, and other times it doesn't work at all. I'm not sure if this a DM issue or what...
-
Here's something odd.

A couple of things to notice here...
1. Four files are listed as (Incomplete) and Download Manager hasn't removed them from the list (even though I have that option set) BUT both files' progress indicators say "Finished".
2. The weird graphical glitch at the end of the lines that were a result of me resizing/hiding some columns.
-
Sorry for the flurry of posts, but...
I shut down Download Manager and restarted it. This revealed one serious flaw in the program. There is no "Resume/Retry All" option, so I had to right click 20 or so files in order to Retry the download. It also didn't allow me to Resume the download of files that were halfway downloaded before, so those had to restart from the beginning. The graphical glitch I pointed out before also was back even after shutting the program down.
All of the files I just downloaded are exhibiting the (Incomplete) yet "Finished" behavior.
-
About quality I can'say anymore than make your choice, but if you are looking for ...
[post modified by JimH, believed to be about illegal sharing sites]
-
And one more...
I'm beginning to think the album download problem I'm having is a DM issue, only because I cleared out all of the previous entries, and tried to redownload that whole album again. And it's not working. That would seem to suggest that it's not a broken link or anything like that.
So maybe it's a firewall issue?

Doof
>> Sometimes I click on full album and it works right away, other times it doesn't work until
it may be because of the 56k modem, and it does take time if your already downloading for DM to upload the album info to the Download manager.
it seems to work fine for me, i have had 1 crash since the new build when adding files to the DM
-
Well, the thing is... this is at work on the DSL. At home on the 56k, it's instantaneous.
-
Doof
If you want to be sure if a DM problem
Download FreeAmp.Or the last one,or for the test, the one from Emusic site.In option you can choose where to put the songs
For not mess around with MediaJukebox, just open FreeAmp before you want to test download, you will have a pop up"files.....' clickj yes.Next time you open MediaJukebox, you will get your settings back
If you download one by one,to have a lot is not a problem
I had ONE WEEK non stop downloads from Emusic on moden 56 kps.I was away in Eilat and got all when back
