Title: I am thinking to buy a DAC and connect it to MX121 processor, Please advise?
Post by: trcns on June 19, 2013, 06:41:11 pm
I have my PC connected to my McIntosh MX121 Processor via HDMI. MX121 is connected to Krell 7 channel AMP s1500. Now I am thinking to buy Chordette Qutehd DAC. Connect my PC to DAC via USB and DAC to MX121. I do not want to connect DAC directly to Krell AMP, because I use it as 7.1 for Movies. I am not sure, if I will gain any thing by doing this? I am asking for expert advice, please help?

Thanks

Well if you're not sure, then DO NO DO IT! Only spend money on equipment that you know will give you a gain.

The only advice I can give is to make sure that your processor can or can be configured to NOT convert an incoming analog signal from something like a DAC, into digital. I assume that the "upmarket audiophile" McIntosh that you have won't, but it's best to find out for sure.
