Title: MC works with USB-stick, but not with external harddisk
Post by: dynavit on June 20, 2013, 03:45:51 am
Hallo,
my new intalled MC18 doesn't work with an external harddisk connected on win8.  If I connect, MC doesn't react any more!
I've tried two different Harddisk on different USB connectors, USB 2 and 3.
No Problem when playing Music from an USB-stick!
Any suggestions?
Many thanks for your help !

Can you clarify what you mean by "doesn't react"?  Do you mean it hangs, freezes, or crashes?

Hallo and thanks for your detailed question, but my english isn't that good.
Now, with an external harddisk connected I can open MC, but in the Moment, where I try to open a file or a menue, I get this blue ring, but nothing follows. Then no more reaction at all. If I try to close, Windows says MC doesn´t react. Does it help?

Does the external disk work with Windows - can you open it, and read and write files?

Do you disconnect the USB drive when you connect the external disk?  (I am thinking that maybe MC is looking for the USB drive which has now disappeared)

A virus checker?

Has anything changed on your PC lately?

Hallo and thanks for the time.
I can read from and write to my external harddisk inother programs . I even can open a Music file with MC by doubleclicking a file on the harddisk, an it keeps on playing, but the rest of MC gets death.
To the Virus Suggestion:
My Computers is brand new, and I refreshed win8 bevor trying again. The harddisk is checked an still plays on my old computer. If Firewall would stop it, it would stop it on other programs too, or?

I belief Computers are living little creatures fishing for attention.
