If I schedule TV recordings in the Television section of MC18, does MC18 need to be running when the specified date/time arrives ?
In other words, does it have to be running 24/7 for MC18 Television to work like a DVR ?

Yes, the Media Server must be running. There will be an icon in the taskbar. Go to Startup options and make sure you have run Media Server on startup, then be sure not to shutoff the "server" computer.
If the server is not running, it can't record anything.

Yes, the Windows Startup option ever refers to TV recording, thanks.

If you use "Sleep" mode instead of completely shutting down your server, MC Server will wake your system up to record, then send it back to sleep once completed.

I'm noticing that if I exit MC18, it will also remove the Media Server (the icon disappears from the tray).
Is there any way to set MC18 to always leave the Media Server running when MC18 exits ?
-
It shouldn't. If Media Server is set to launch at startup, it's always active on my machine.

I have noticed in recent builds (not sure which one) that if a recording has taken place (after waking the pc from sleep) jriver wont allow the pc to sleep again.
I used power cfg in a command line and it returned a message that JRiver had set "away mode" ............... Any ideas why this would be?

It turns out that the setting does not apply until the next reboot. I rebooted, and now Media Server is always there.
