Title: Remote control of display switching when running MC via HDMI
Post by: haggis999 on July 03, 2013, 03:05:32 pm
My current process for sending video files from MC 18 to an Oppo BDP-105 media player is not as slick as I would like. I would therefore appreciate some thoughts on whether this process could be improved or whether a different approach would offer a better solution.

The PC running MC is my primary general purpose computer and it is normally used with a computer monitor attached to the DVI output of the NVidia graphics card in this PC. When I want to watch a movie, I have to switch the graphics card to one of its DisplayPort outputs that connects to the Oppo via a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. At present, this switchover is handled in a rather kludgy manner via NVidia's nView Desktop Manager software.

My problem is that this display switching does not seem to lend itself to being triggered by a remote control. That inhibits my ability to create a wife-friendly interface. Does anyone have experience of resolving a similar problem or is this a good reason for having a dedicated HTPC that always uses the TV display (via my Oppo)?
