I have been evaluating MC for a few days and it seemed to be pretty stable.
This afternoon I watched about 4 hours of TV shows that I recorded with WMC.
Now I am seeing constant crashes that report "Media Center has stopped working".
They occur when the program has just been restarted and no activity has been chosen.
I did a complete reinstall/restart of MC on my Windows 7 system but that did not change the results.
What else can I do to collect useful information about this problem?

Go to Help>Logging and "report problem". Then reset log and if problem happens again create a new log (and attach the second log to your post). The reason for the second log is most likely it will be smaller (after reset log) and easier to find the issue.
Also if you are using RO+HQ setting, try the RO-STD setting - the more details on what your settings are (audio and video), and when MC fails and when it doesn't, the more help it will be.

I did a clean installation, without restoring my library and everything seems to be fine.
Perhaps I should now try and restore the previous library and see what happens.

Good idea. Try playing one of your WMC files again and see if it crashes. Might be that specific file that is causing the problem. Sometimes a bad recording breaks MC.

I should have been more specific in describing the problem.
The crashes were occurring after loading MC but before loading a file.
The problem was finally fixed by reinstalling MC.
