I'm a loyal user of Media Center and very invested in the product. I've recently started to collect Karaoke files.
I can see several requests (and your negative responses) to support Karaoke over the years. Fine, you're never going to play Karaoke. While I would like it if you did, I'm asking for something MUCH more modest:
Karaoke files are pairs of MP3 and CDG files. They are "paired" by having identical names, except for the file extension. All I want is to be able to import the CDG files into the library where I can use tags to rename/move them in the same way I rename/move my MP3s.
I've explored the registry... Can I just add an entry for the CDG files so that they show up in the list of files to import?
Thanks for your understanding and help,
Jeff

Once you have them imported, you might create a view, based on Filename (path) that shows the pair of files grouped together. This makes it easy to see work with. Or you might use Stacks with the mp3 as the top of the stack.

YAY! Thank you MrC for pointing the way. I sort of expected that you guys would have some architecturally clean way of extending the product, and you did not disappoint!
Thanks for the quick response!
Cheers,
Jeff
