I use WASAPI output via Digital Optical when playing music files using MC18, the volume is fixed at 100% - everything is fine.
When I close MC18 and then look at the volume of the digital optical output in the systray it has been reset to 20%.
When I open a different program (music authoring software for example), and use digital optical the output is at 20% and I have to manually change this back to 100%.
When I close the other software the volume remains at 100%
I can then re-open MC18, play something, close it down and the volume is again reset to 20%.
What's going on here??
HELP!!! This is really annoying!!!
Thanks

In my case, this was caused by having the Volume protection activated.
Go to:
Options -> Audio -> Volume and uncheck "Volume Protection"

I had the same issue once and in my case it was because there is actually a setting to reset the volume each time. I can't remember where it is off-hand, but I think it's in the audio output options.
