Title: Failed to open or parse file. (hr=0x80004005)

This is in playback of a recorded TV show over home LAN.

Some clients will play the file, one won't.  It happens with many of the files, but not all.

The client that won't play the file(s), will play other files just fine, that are recorded from the same station, so the file format should be the same (.jtv container).

I think this is a "Playback of Video over Network" issue, since the recording is long over, but I could be wrong.

Where should I send the .zip log file ?

Things I tried which don't fix the issue:

* Unchecking hardware acceleration of video files
* Unchecking Play Files From Memory
* Using a different audio output
* Converted all the paths to network paths in the Library from the Server, and then re-added the Library

... at first glance, the difference between the files that play and the ones that don't is File Size, in fact the ones that produce the error message all seem over 4gb.  But all disks involved are NTFS.  A google search turned up some obscure issues possibly involving TCP and files over 4gb...

The clients that work fine are on Win7 and XP, and the one with the problem is on Vista 32-bit (but so is the TV server).

Copy the file to the computer that won't play it - then try to play it,  to make sure it is not a network/streaming issue.

Good idea !

I did that and imported it to the library local to that PC and it plays fine.

So, it is a networking problem, apparently a problem of playing files >4gb between two Vista PCs.

So did anyone look at the log mailed to the email address, and if so, what did it show ?

All the devs are chasing down license issues ??  ?

I'm beginning to think you could cut your customer churn in half by hiring some office staff.   Wasn't this your best year for revenue ?

What are your network settings. I had some problems playing back movies when I had Jumbo Frames enabled.

Jumbo Frames is disabled.

Here is an interesting one:

I can play the same TV show (the one that won't play on that one client), over the same network connection, IF it is one .ts file instead of a folder in .jtv format.

Couple of Q:'s
- Does the client have it's own library or are you loading it from a MC Library Server
- Does the client use UNC or drive mapping or ?? to see the content

I'm not sure what your first question means ?   A "client" is defined in context of connecting to a "server".

To answer the second question, I saw that glynor fixed someone's problem that had the same error message, by having them change their TV file locations to UNCs, and so I did that and re-imported, but it didn't help.
