Title: Rio 500 Windows Xp and Media Jukebox
Post by: JR_JR on March 20, 2002, 05:26:43 am
I see that there is a Media Jukebox download for the Rio 500 but there are no Windows XP drivers for this device so, my question is, is the plug-in enough to get my Rio 500 working?  If so, I'll download MJ and give it a try, otherwise I won't bother.  Anyone else out there using a Rio 500?  Thanks

I use MJ exclusively with my Rio 500 now. There is no need for the Rioport software at all. Works great!

I think he is referring to the USB driver needed and MJ's pluggin is not that.

Just throw in the RIO port CD and then plug in your RIO 500.  When found, have XP search the CD and it will turn up with 2 drivers.  Either is fine.  Install the driver and ignore the lack of digital signature warnings.  I have been using my RIO 500 with XP since the day XP was released.  The drivers work fine.  USB drivers are pretty much the same across all versions of windows that support USB - 98 forward.

Then you need the pluggin so MJ can interface with the driver and RIO 500.

Odd...I've not used the Rio disc. XP seems to install the USB drivers for me without my intervention and without the digital signature warnings.

Oh well, as long as it works, right?
