Title: Theater View - Sound but no video
Post by: kensn on July 24, 2013, 08:03:15 pm
I have a peculiar problem on one of my HTPCs. If I select "Watch" on a selected movie in Theater View, the movie will begin to play ( I know this because the sound is there) but the video will not show. I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up task manager and then go back to JRriver to show the video playing correctly. Versions 18 & 19 both. I wish I knew exactly when this started... But I do not know.
Discrete video card , Nvidia 560.

Ideas???

I have excactly the same problem, when selecting "watch" the video goes to the background and I hear the sound.
I can't do nothing, only ctrl/alt/del and go to task manager, close task manager without doing anything, gives me the video screen back.

And I.

I reported this about 2 weeks ago or so. This issue is currently dogging me with some ripped TV episodes in MKV format.

I hit Watch and the audio starts immediately. But no video. Then I have to hit FF on my Media Center remote and advance anywhere between 10 and 30 seconds before the video actually "catches" up with the sound.

I would be very happy to understand what is going on here.

98% of my video collection is MKV.

98% of my video collection is MKV.

I am going to conduct some further testing tonight to see if it's the file that's the issue, or Theater View itself (or something else) by simply firing up a file that has given me issues - by double clicking it in Explorer and having MC play it back.

If it starts up normally - when I am not in Theater View - at least I have a start on finding a culprit :)

Did some testing today. Did a reboot and of course I could not get the symptom to reappear. Wish I would of made a log first. Will keep an eye on it.
