Title: Burning Error
Post by: toni on March 19, 2002, 04:43:47 pm
I have just tried to burn a CD with MJ but got an error message which read:  "write command failed on device 0:0:0.  Read/write error or bad medium detected (04h 00h 02h 03h 0ch ooh)" - can anybody help.  This happened to me a while ago with about 3 cd's so uninstalled MJ and went back to MMJB but have been told this is a far superior programme so thought I would try again.  Any suggestions.

Thanks

Well in 8 burning attempts have only succeeded once.  I have done everything suggested in the help file i.e.lowering burn speed, turning off all other programmes running in background, doing a test, increasing priority to High to no avail.  I love the MJ programme having been a MM user before but am beginning to get totally frustrated at the waste of CD'S.

Now I know I am not that computer literate but heaven forbid I feel as if I am doing everything right to no avail.

Is there anyone out there who may have some other suggestions for me.

Many thanks
Toni

Check the "test mode" option to avoid ruining CD's. Try burning at 2X speed. I know this is too slow, but if it works at this speed, it probably indicates where the problem is. Have you tried checking the "use generic driver" option? Are you doing audio or data CD's, and if audio, have you tried unchecking the "decode mp3 files direct" option? If you're using version7, leave the cache size option set at default or 2 meg.

Thanks John worked a treat by just lowering the cache to 2MB and burn at x8.  Have made a note of these setting for future reference.

Help much appreciated.
