Title: DOP and DSD over USB to determine the type of DAC
Post by: kuanj on July 26, 2013, 12:49:51 am
Scenario 1
Use DAC model A .
The MP18 Bit stream Format is set to DSD (bit streaming/custom/DSD)
A DSD  file with 354 sampling rate.

Scenario 2
Use DAC model B
The MP18 Bit stream Format is set to DOP (bit streaming/custom/DOP)
A DSD  file with 354 sampling rate

Question:
MP 18 cannot play DSD but only DOP on model A. Both DSD and DOP can be played on model B
Does this means that Model A’s DAC chip  is not designed to accept native DSD file but convert
the PCM into DSD at the DAC?

A lot of the newer DSD-capable DACs only support DoP and not "native" DSD signals.
Quality should be the same with DSD or DoP - it's still a DSD signal.
