Title: Can't play APE or FLAC on Philips HMP5000 via DLNA
Post by: rpalmer68 on August 08, 2013, 10:13:27 am
I have a Philips HMP5000 Media player and for some reason I can't play APE or FLAC files off the MC DLNA server.

If I try to pull the files via the HMP5000 front end I get "Format Not Supported" and if I try to push them from MC to the HMP5000 I get playback errors.

I setup the DLNA server as Generic DLNA and set audio to "Original Format". The only files I have that will play are MP3s with these options.

If I browse the network share where the files are directly from the HMP5000 then all my APE and FLACs play through it fine.

So the unit can play APE and FLAC files, but not via the MC DLNA server.

Any thoughts on why?

Thanks
Richard

sometimes these devices can play certain formats only when pulling the files directly from a share.

No, your device does not support FLAC and APE via DLNA.  See:

MC can convert.
