Title: What channels can i expect?
Post by: Krunchy on August 15, 2013, 03:15:16 am
I'm discovering the tv fonction in MC. after reading the wikis and many pages in this section, i still have this important question!
As i don' have any subscribtion for tv, i would be interested having tv from internet.
But before buying a tuner to plug on my pc, i would like to know what channels, what kind, could i have?
I live in Belgium. Can i get the regular channels from Belgium? from France? sport channel? movie channel?

i really don't know....

Thanks guys for your help

TV channels supported (for Europe) are:

DVB-T/T2 (received from over-the-air antenna);
DVB-S/S2 (satellite TV subscription);
DVB-C/C2 (cable TV subscription);
Analog TV (antenna or cable, are they still available in Europe?  Probably will not be available for too long any way).

Thanks for your reply.

and if i understand well, it means almost everything, or at least a lot!
Do you recommand any tv tuner for Europe, or the basic one (like Asus for instance) would be ok

Merci!

Maybe some of our other European users can help with recommending a device.

I did not quite understand your statement

As i don' have any subscribtion for tv, i would be interested having tv from internet.

Did you mean receiving TV contents from the Internet or buying TV devices from the Internet?

Also, what kind of channels to expect depends on what device you buy.  For instance if you buy a DVB-T tuner, you will receive over-the-air local broadcast channels.  Furthermore, for DVB-S and DVB-C, encrypted channels are still not supported.
