Title: Sponsored (Paid) Development?
Post by: jmone on August 16, 2013, 03:24:27 am
As we all know I do have a list of (long) list of stuff I'd like to see included that will never make it to the top of the list regardless of the number of Chickens or Muffins I send (just being a realist for once!)

I'm not saying I have the coin for this but..... if we do have a pet feature we want is it possible to get a quote of what JR may consider appropriate contribution to move stuff up the dev cycle for inclusion in the feature set.  For example, take my Gizmo requests, eg something like
- Off line cache : On the plan at some point so no $
- Intercom: Not on the plan but for $x JR would consider adding it in MCXX feature set

Thanks
Nathan

The problem with such things is that JRiver most likely has a plan, and that plan is unlikely to change just because you offer them pocket money.
The only way to get more traction on these features would be to actually get more hands on the product, and if you can raise that kind of money? :)

But maybe there is some good news soon!

I think you are right but I read last night that some women got a boob job through crowdsourcing and I thought.... if such things can happen anything is possible!

Would you believe....$8Million raised, 1,000 procedures.  Had me floored. http://www.crowdsourcing.org/editorial/controversial-site-crowdfunds-breast-implants/18573

JRiver development already is crowd-sourced.

However, I'll put the first $20 in for jmone to get a breast enlargement.  I owe it to him.

I know this has been beaten to death but...

Probably the biggest crowd on the planet right now for HTPC is XBMC users. I've been trying to get my brother and my buddy over here for ages. I'm not going to harp on already well trodden material so I won't mention specifics. The point is, more users = more development money. JRiver has already seen what happens when you lure a crowd of people over (audiophiles etc). While JRiver already had a great product, getting Madashi and Nevcairel on board brought lots of people over. I would bet that bringing people over from XBMC would be even more fruitful...

Now that I've thrown the grenade, I'll jump out of the way and hide...
