Title: 2D playback of a 3D movie

Is a 3D movie disc played back in 2D the same resolution as an original 2D movie disc? ie does a 3D disc play back in 1080x1920 in 2D? I though I heard it played back at half the resolution.

Does anyone know?

3D Blu-rays should still be 1080p when viewed in 2D - but you only have half the bitrate available compared to a 2D disc so compression may be a problem. (assuming there are two masters, and they don't just use a BD25 for the 2D release)
If you are viewing side-by-side content, then the resolution is halved.
