I have set it up so I see the album gain and track gain fields in the players display (where the current track and so on is displayed) and also in some listings. All my tracks have replay gain tagged properly within the files.
But it seems both [Replay Gain] and [Album Gain] is missing in MC19? How do I in MC19 access these tags that are available in all my files?
-
Ok, so I found the new tag "Volume Level (ReplayGain)" in MC 19. That is obviously the old "Replay Gain" but renamed.
- I can't find "Album Gain"
- How do I best set up column views so they work both on MC18 and 19? I run 18 on my main computer and fiddle and test 19 on my laptop.
-
Album gain is now calculated dynamically based on your playlist, which is why the album gain field was removed.
Unfortunately right now though, it just uses the gain from the loudest track in an album for all files, rather than the average. (the change was made in build 14 and I think it was a mistake)

I'm very happy that there's a lot of new functionality with both brand new volume leveling, adaptive volume and R128 support. But I still want to be able to view my old RG values in all my files, preferably both track and album RG values.
- But step one, how do I make a user defined field that shows the value from ReplayGain if it exists OR from Volume level (ReplayGain) if that exists?
EDIT: I'm fiddling with the "tag()" function but no success yet
EDIT2: Tag(replaygain_track_gain) works in MC18 and MC19 :) But is there a perfomance penalty since it's not in the database?

Create a new custom calculated field:
Tag(replaygain_track_gain)
and the performance hit will only suffer the first time it is used. It is cached thereafter.

Thank you!

I get a ginormous performance hit :o MC acts like it has hanged but I can check in the windows system that it's reading all my 100k files one by one. Haven't let it run all the way through yet since it seems it'll take many many hours for it to finish (like a day or more).

The stock field 'Volume Level (ReplayGain)' will show the ReplayGain. I don't believe there's a need to use the (very) slow Tag(...) expression for this.

Not the track gain :-[

'Volume Level (ReplayGain)' is the track gain.

Oooops.
Thx!
I was temporarily confused :P ::)
