Title: Loud screeching when playing some songs
Post by: Lefoobar on August 19, 2013, 02:04:30 pm
Hi,

I've had this problem for a while now and I can't seem to work out if it's Media Center or another device. When I play some songs from my library in Media Center, a loud piercing screeching sound plays (like a corrupt file mixed with static), for about 1-2 seconds before the song starts properly. I'm a bit concerned as this is much louder than normal listening levels and has the potential to damage my hearing. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Any ideas on what this could be?

I don't get this in anything else like games or movies, It only seems to be some songs (I can't find any evidence of corruption)

I'm currently on J River Media Center 15,
Sound card is Asus Xonar DSX
Song Library is a mix of MP3 and FLAC on a standard Harddrive

Thanks in advance!

Are these DTS-WAV files encoded to FLAC?
It might be useful if you can upload a sample track somewhere.
