Anyone?

I wonder if there is a corruption in Media Center's library. You could try renaming the library directory and then re-run Media Center. It will create a new empty library.
Your library should be here:
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 18/Library
If this works, you could send me your old library and I'll debug it here. (logs at jriver dot com)
-
Thanks John, I'll give it a try.
-
sorry to appear so inept, but where do I find the directory you mentioned above?
-
Open Finder, click the "Go" menu item, hold down the Option key (marked Alt), you'll see the "Library" entry added to the dropdown list while holding the Option key. Now click on the Library entry and you can navigate into "Application Support/J River/Media Center 18" and rename the "Library" folder to "Library1" or something. Make sure Media Center isn't running when you do this.
-
Thanks John, that worked. Getting the Library to show up in finder was the key. I'll email you my Library folder for debugging. I appreciate it very much.
-
I got your library files, but there appear to be one or more missing files. Are you sure you sent everything from the library folder? For example, there must be a "mediafiles.jmd" file for the library to be valid.
Also, do you have a recent library backup you could restore from? In Media Center, go to:
File / Library / Restore backup...
Or in Finder, look in this folder:
Documents / J River / Media Center 18 / Library Backups
-
Thanks John,
I sent all of the contents of the Library folder, but I'll look again when I get home.
I did a backup prior to the crashes but when I deleted the old library I tried to restore from the backup and it crashed again so maybe the old library was already corrupt and I didn't know it.
-
John,
I sent you more files. I missed about half of them it seems. Must have sent the email before they finished uploading. Thanks again.

This database is indeed corrupt, it won't open on my system either. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done with it. If you come across something reproducible that corrupts your database, please let us know.
