Title: Error restoring license
Post by: audconsult on September 01, 2013, 10:13:47 am
I am trying to upgrade from 17 to 19.
I am getting the following message when I try to install 19.
"Error restoring Media Center License: error unknown."

Please help.

I have done this four times and keep getting the same error message.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the upgrade.

Does MC19 run?  What happens if you run it, and from the Help > Purchase menu enter your code (W.....7)?

Matt,
Thanks for your reply.  MC 19 will not run.  I keep getting the error message noted in my first message.
I don't understand what you mean by Help>Purchase menu .

Windows license?  Windows version?

The license must match the version.  You can't run MC19 with an MC17 license, for example.

Did you try a restore?

Please read this carefully:

A virus checker or other "security" software might also cause a problem.

The license must match the version.  You can't run MC19 with an MC17 license,

You should be able to install MC19 - even without a license, "to try it for free" before buying", so if you can't even install it and get it to run something else is wrong. Don't worry about the license at this point. Figure out why 19 won't run.
What operating system are you running (XP, Win7)? What are your computer specs, and do you have other programs installed?

Please make sure you're starting MC19 using the proper shortcut.

The error you're reporting sounds like what would happen if you launched it using an old MJR file.

Windows 7 on a computer that is dedicated to computer audio. MC 17 has been on it for 1-2years without problems.  I do not understand what you mean by trying to run on an old MJR.  I have tried restore 4 times without success.  I am not trying to be difficult, I just want to run MC 19.  Can you give me another restore number to try?

MC19 has a 30-day trial.  So get it running before worrying about your license.

Install MC19 (regular, not portable), then launch using the shortcut.  There should be no licensing involved so no "Error restoring Media Center License: error unknown." error possible.

I re-downloaded and it worked.  Thanks.
