Title: Green button for Windows Media Centre, what for MC19?
Post by: spiggytopes on September 03, 2013, 12:00:06 am
Hi All,

I use my remote's green button to start Windows Media Centre (yes, I'm still using it :)).

How can I start MC19 from my remote control WITHOUT using a mouse to click on the MC19 icon?

It is a Logitech programmable remote if that helps.

Cheers.

If you have Media Server running and the options set up correctly, the Green button should open MC to theater view.

Tools > Options > Theater View > Disable Windows Media Center

makes sure it doesn't open WMC.

Thanks.

Then, is there a way to reassign the WMC start to the remote?

I DON'T disable WMC via JRiver and use this software http://www.lmgestion.net/@en-us/4/22/60/article.asp to launch JRiver (and other programs) via my Logitech Harmony remote.

What I do on my mixed use PC is:
Use 'green button' to launch WMC.  Close WMC when not in use.
MC is the first (left-most) program in my Windows 7 taskbar, so I use <Windows Key>+<1> (programmed to my Harmony remote) to launch the first program in the taskbar.  MC is closed when not in use.
