Title: comparing .... why this happens?
Post by: jorsan on September 04, 2013, 12:40:48 pm
Yesterday I was comparing a bluray played thru JRiver with same movie ripped to my HDD. What I found is that in dark scenes, ripped movie is way much darker than the original counterpart (played using the original media). Have you ever tried this?, do you found same differences? and of course ... how can I compensate this? thing is that when I use original media darks scenes looks great and when I use ripped material is way too dark. maybe something that I need to play with inside "Red October"?. your comments will be much apreciated, thanks. Forgot to merntion: not just one movie in particular, happens always ....

There can be several reasons for this that I can think of. While I'm not the best person to help you on these matters, I'll give it a shot.

First step we need to know which videocard brand you have and how its connected to your TV and whether there's a receiver in between.
