What types of remotes? What types of receivers (MS clone or proprietary 3rd party)?

Some remotes that look and act like WMC remotes when using WMC *aren't* in fact WMC remotes but third party ones designed to work with WMC and little else...

Did you have XBMC installed with a tool to get the remote to work with XMBC properly (this could have been an addon or registry hack)? This would break MC's compatibility with the remotes.

A standard HTPC remote control is an RC-6 compatible remote. Most of the remotes would have this type printed on the back of the remote.

I do not have XBMC installed. I have a microsoft remote model 1039 that doesn't work, BUT I have an IOGEAR remote keyboard that works. Problem is that I want to copy the codes to my Philips Pronto pro 7000 and the ones from the keyboard are impossible to be copied. I have tried to copy some hex cdes that I found in the web but none of them works.....any ideas?
