Is the algorithm for play doctor the same as in version 18?

Is there any improvement on that feature planned? I really enjoy defining one song as starting point, and play doctor adds similar songs to the playlist. However, in many cases (no matter how I configure Play Doctor), the following songs are often not related at all to the genre or mood / "speed"...

I'd really like the option to change the "neutral" point to two stars instead of three. Play Doctor is useless with the way my files are rated.

In Play Doctor, you can define, what rating should be configured in the selection?
For example, I setup PlayDoctor in this way, that only 5 star ratings are considered.
Still, in most cases, the playlist doesnt "match each other"....

To help Play Doctor, pick meaningful genres for your library and use them consistently. Try to have a medium number of genres, like 10 or 20 (not 1 or 2 and not 100 or 200).
Rate songs you like as 4 or 5 and songs you don't as 1 or 2.
Don't define custom rules for Play Doctor since reducing the pool to choose from can have unexpected results.

The problem is that I use 1 and <deleted>.
I don't see a reason for anything beyond "I want to keep it in my library, but don't want to hear it" (1 star)
Anything below 3 basically doesn't seem to get played.

If you consider two stars a good rating, there's good and bad news.
The bad news is that Play Doctor isn't going to work as well for you.
The good news is that you'll be happy with just about any product on Amazon and also save a lot of money on restaurants and hotels ;)

Haha. Well it's different when the data is an aggregate score, and something I have rated myself.
When you're looking at an aggregate score, you typically look for four or five stars, not three or more.
When rating myself, I only need to decide whether it's a track that I don't want to hear (1 star) and whether I want to keep it in my library for the sake of completeness or not. (deleted)
What's the point in deciding if it should be a 1 or 2 star track, if I don't want to hear it? Neither is going to be played.
With two stars being the neutral point, that gives me three stars to rate how much I do like something (giving 5 star tracks real meaning) and one star to mark tracks I don't want to hear.

With any Rating System - be it appraisal, surveying pubs and bars, or whatever - we are always instructed to use the full range of scores.
MC19 should be the same. Play doctor should use the full range of scores available not restrict the usability of ones and twos.
